Whilst script kiddies align more with the illegal activity of cyber-criminal hackers, three things separate them: intent, experience, and skills. Script kiddies are often inexperienced, hence why they exploit existing programs written by others and found on the internet.

A script kiddie is considered a bad thing to be in the hacker community. They are often less skilled, experienced and knowledgeable than true hackers. Hackers view them with contempt because they use powerful hacking tools with little understanding of how they work and of the consequences.

Unsophisticated hacking: Script kiddies do not have complete knowledge of technology and hacking. Thus, they do not know how to cover their tracks after committing a hack using open-source scripts and programs. So, enterprise professionals with expertise in cybersecurity can identify or track them easily.

A script kiddie is someone who knows basic information about the operation of computer systems, but lacks the knowledge or desire to discover and exploit/patch security holes without the use of tools written by better hackers.
